Those MomDotters are at it again...Small talk Six! On Saturdays.Today’s topic is “6 things you loved or hated about school". You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc...
My school days were interesting, to say the least. In elementary school, I was made fun of because I was tall, lanky, smart and wore glasses. In Junior High and High School, there was a more diverse crowd and I was able to make friends who hadn't known me since Kindergarten and had already formed misconceptions about me. I still maintain a close friendship with many of the friends I made in H.S....more than 20 years later.
1) I loved learning. Fortunately, I was blessed with really good teachers in elementary school. My second grade teacher once told my Mother that she was confident that I would write a novel someday...Now I blog. Funny how that worked out.
2) I loved getting special privileges because I was in accelerated classes starting in 5th grade. Myself and another student were the only ones allowed to use the school computer because we were the school's only G.A.T.E. students.
3) I loved the school dances.
4) I hated being made fun of for being smart. And wearing glasses.
5) I both loved and hated being the tallest one in my class until High School.
6) I was both flattered and a bit creeped out by the apparent crush my health teacher in 8th grade had on me. What made it worse was that he lived in the same townhouse community as me. And my Dad was the Homeowners Association President. That made things interesting.

Those people who made fun of you for being smart aren't laughing about it now. Kids are so backwards sometimes about things like that.
Blogging a novel? don't give me any ideas :)
Have a great Saturday!

Its funny how the smart kids usually get the last laugh. I look at all the lives of the kids who were going out of the way to be mean to people. Seems like they are either in jail or not doing anything to exciting. Heres mine http://postpartumillness.com/node/128

I loved school too. Sorry you got picked on, never understood why kids made fun of smart people. Jealousy I guess.
the school dances were always super fun
I completely forgot about the dances! They were always drama filled, but still fun.
Oh I forgot about school dances. I used to have so much fun at those.
