Last Shreds Of Sanity

Saturday, my Husband had me call the cops because some kids were trying to break into a foreclosed house across the street from us. In broad daylight. A few minutes ago, I just had to politely, but firmly, tell these same kids, plus a couple more, to get off my lawn. My exact words were "Hey guys, could you please get off my lawn?" I had to repeat myself and say "Its my lawn and I asked you to get off of it. Thank you." They looked at me like I was an alien and called me a bitch.

> What happened to children being taught to have respect for other people and their property? Don't I have the right to tell kids or adults to get off my property without being disrespected?

When did parents stop parenting their kids and start letting them run rampant through the world? My daughter is at that age where she is telling me "NO!" whenever I ask her or tell her to do something. But she's 4 1/2, not 12 or 13. I do not get how kids today think they are in charge of the whole damn world. If I ever acted like that, my parents would have whipped my ass. I was taught not to touch things that aren't mine, respect my elders, say please and thank you and not treat other people's property like it was my own. I am teaching The Diva the same thing.

So what happened to these kids?

About 30 minutes before I asked the kids to vacate my lawn, I watched some teen girls stick their friend in an open ended barrel and let her roll down the hill into the street my house sits on. Uh, yeah, that's a brilliant move.

Parent: "How did she get hit by the car?"

Friend: "Well she wanted to roll down the hill in the barrel. We didn't think a car would be coming down the street."

Yep, there's one that's going to Harvard.

I think I am glad I pay attention to my daughter and am so strict with her. Because if my daughter rolled down a hill in a barrel and subsequently got hit by a car, you can believe that I would be beating her like an unwanted red headed step child once I found out she was alright. I want to know where these kids brains are at. More importantly, I want to know where the hell their parents are.

These are the future leaders of our country and world. God help us all!
