I love Autumn, it is one of my two favorite seasons. Winter is the first. I only wish we had snow here in SoCal. And changing leaves in the Fall.

1) I LOVE that it means it is usually THE END OF SUMMER!!! Unfortunately, it also means the start of the Santa Ana winds and that fire season is in full swing here in SoCal.

3) Halloween!!

4) Thanksgiving!! My Mother's stuffing is something I always looked forward to, now I make it and my family loves it.



5) Cool, crisp days and cold nights...love them!

6) Autumn means Christmas is coming...and snow! Well, snow in our local mountains, anyway.

7) I get to decorate! I love putting out all my autumn and Halloween things. I just love Autumn.

Just Another Wordless Wednesday...

Longing for Autumn...

My favorite seasons are Fall and Winter. This is the time of year that I start dreaming about crisp, cool days, chilly nights and wishing we lived somewhere that actually had four seasons. In SoCal we have three seasons, hot as hell, windy as hell combined with fire season and freeze your nipples off cold {also combined with windy as hell}

The leaves don't change here, they just get blown off in mid-January by the Santa Ana winds. A week later there are new green buds on the tree. Oh, how I long for a real Autumn and a snowy Winter.

Longing For Autumn: MomDot's Small Talk Six

Those MomDotters are at it again...Small talk Six! On Saturdays.

Today’s topic is “6 things you’ll miss (or won’t miss) about summer". You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc...


This is the time of year where I begin to get nostalgic. I am longing for fall and all the changes and promise it brings. Autumn and Winter are my favorite seasons. The changing leaves, the crisp days, the promise {or hope} of rain...all of it.I really can't stand Summer, so this should be easy...

1) I will not miss the heat. Heat and I do not mix. We are like oil and water. And whoever tells you that a dry heat is better than a wet heat has never experienced 110 degree days in a house with no central air and no insulation.

2) I will not miss the bugs. All biting bugs seem to adore me...and now my daughter.

3) I will not miss not being able to have my windows open during the day. In the fall, or what passes for fall here in Southern California, I can open my windows in the middle of the day and hear...nothing. Beautiful silence with the exception of the birds chirping or the breeze rustling the trees.

4) I will not miss having to slather my very fair skinned daughter in sunblock 1 million several times a day.

5) I will not miss being unable to sleep because I am so bloody hot. I love cold weather. And rain. And cool, crisp mornings. Unfortunately, this means that the Santa Ana winds are on their way and that is not a good thing.

6) I will miss that this was my daughter's last summer as my baby girl. She starts preschool on September 10th. Where did all the time go? As much as I know she needs to go to school and I need a break, I just don't know how I can let her go! She is my baby and I will miss her for the whole three hours she is gone each day. {I will likely get to the point where I don't miss her and begin to wonder why the three hours is going by so quickly.}
